Frequency Inverter

A frequency inverter is an electronic device that allows the conversion of an electrical variable ‘current’. In this case, the frequency inverter transforms an AC current with a certain frequency (fixed) into a voltage with variable amplitude and frequency. In short, this results in a voltage conversion.

A typical frequency inverter consists of three main sections:

Rectifier: Converts an input AC supply voltage into a pulsating DC voltage.
Intermediate circuit / DC bus: Stabilizes and smooths the pulsating output from the rectifier.
Inverter: Synthesizes an AC output voltage from the DC bus voltage.
